With over 140 years of experience, Ewbank combines trusted British heritage with practical, easy-to-use floorcare solutions designed for every home.
Who we are
Founded in Accrington, Lancashire, during 1864, we began under the name Entwisle & Kenyon Limited, manufacturing water meters; we later moved on to producing manual washing machines and mangles. In 1889, our first Ewbank sweeper was sold, designed by Richard Walter Kenyon.
It soon became the most popular product of its type in Britain and carpet sweeping became known as ‘ewbanking.’ After World War II, we became a major manufacturer of floorcare products, selling shampooers, mangles, ladders, and many more to both the UK and internationally.
Today, we deliver a diverse collection of home cleaning equipment that has been created to combine design, performance, and reliability.

1984
The Beginning
Ewbank began as Entwisle & Kenyon Limited. The company was founded in Accrington, Lancashire and produced water meters.
1875
The Next Step
Under the name Entwisle & Kenyon Limited, we started to manufacture manual washing machines and mangles.
1889
Ewbank is Born
Our first Ewbank Carpet Sweeper is sold. The name came from the Ewbank area of Accrington, where our factory was located.
1945
Moving On
By the end of World War II, we become a major manufacturer selling in the UK and internationally.
At Present
Ewbank Today
We still manufacture carpet sweepers along with floor polishers, vacuum cleaners, steam cleaners and pressure washers.
